Are you sure James was born in Kentucky? I have a James Coke born to Richard and Elizabeth (Tribble)Cocke just after the turn of the century in northern Tennessee.
The reason I ask is the date of birth might be a match, and the fact that the name also showed up as Cox. The cocke name shows up as Coke, Cox and several other variations.
The brother of the James I am referring to shows up in census as both Cocke and Coke and is buried as Cox.
Let me know if there might be a match.
