Back in 1850 in Waverly, Humphreys Co., Tn. there was a John May who was married to an Elizabeth Cocke dau. of Richard and Elizabeth Cocke. The Cockes(some of them) later changed the spelling to Coke. Some of this family moved to Lawrence, Independence, and Sharp Cos. in Arkansas. This is a possibility for the Coke middle name. May be farfetched.
