Wendy,

Our line of COOkes/COOks in Virginia appears to carry the same Arms as those of COKe of Trusley. And, those same Arms are common among the COOKe lines in Sussex: Cooke of Broadwater, Rustington; Alresford in Hampshire; & in Brooklands, Blackheath Park, Kent.....

Also, I have seen the "Melbourne" line also as Coke & Cooke, interchangeably.

These "Trusleys" appear to be Coke, Cooke, & Cocke in the UK. Yet, the most recent emigrant, John, apparently was a "Coke" & settled in VA in Williamsburg.

My line, spelled "COOKE", starts in VA with an "Abraham Cook(e)", born about 1660, died about 1725. We believe he MAY be the same "Abraham" born in 1661 to John Cooke & Mary Hill in Barbados.

Would love to correspond.

Jim Cooke
