COKE DNA, COKE of Trusley, etc....

I am a Cooke. Ours have been "Cookes" since at least the 1670s. Our family settled in VA, at first in Richmond County, then Hanover, & ultimate the Central VA counties of Cumberland, Buck'm, & Pr Edward.

Surnames in my COOKE family are nearly identical to that of the COCKE family of VA (Malvern Hill, etc): Abraham, William, Stephen, James, Agnes, etc.....

The Arms of our COOKES appears to be very similar to that of the COKE family of "Trusley", England.

And hence my point: DNA projects at FamilyTreeDNA.

The name "COKE" is being tested in the "COKER" Surname Project.

"COCKE" is being tested in the "COX" Surname project.

"COOKE", "COOK", & "KOCH" are being tested in the "COOK" Surname project.

We know from Heraldic records that Coke, Cooke, Cook, & Cocke are interchangeable in the UK. "Trusley" is often described as being both a COKE & COOKE estate. Wouldn't it be great to know, once & for all, who's who?

IF YOU ARE A MALE "COKE" PLEASE consider participating in one of these project.
