In reply to your post this is what I have:
James Coit (I show his father as a Capt. not him) was born Oct. 23, 1762 in Preston, CT and died Aug. 8, 1851. He married Mary Burton. James was the son of Samuel Coit b July 23, 1733 in Preston, and Mercy Clark b abt. 1727. James died Mar. 13, 1806 and his wife Mercy Nov. 12, 1800. They had 10 children: Samuel, Sarah, Mercy, Jeremiah, Solomon, Bethany, Joseph, James, Mary and Clark.
Other than this I can not tell you much, I only know of one son born to James and Mary (Burton) Coit, names James born Nov. 6, 1789. I have much information on James and his wife Lydia "Lily" Haven. Would be happy to share if your interested in this line. Hope this helps and good luck with your search.
