Coit Family Genealogy Forum

Hi! I don't know if this will be helpful or if you could be of any help to me, because truthfully, I don't know much about my heritage. However, when I was growing up, I heard a story about my "Great-Great...grandmother (maybe)" that lived in San Diego CA many years ago. The story was that she use to chase the fire trucks and essentially was 1 of the first women firefighters in those days. I was told that this is how the Coit tower came to be. How true this is I don't know. Also...again, I was very young when this happened, but I met my uncle Bobby (I think) who lived in TX at the time. I heard him tell my mother that he had our 1st family bible that dated back to the Mayflower. If this is the same lineage, then my mother's name is Patrica Elenor Coit. (b. 10/06/57). Her father died around 1960. My grandmother died in my mothers teen years. She had 2 sisters, 1 that committed suicide and 1 still living that I know of (NE last I heard). I'd really like to know if you are related or at the very least, if the stories I heard were true. Thank you, Shannon
