The Catalog of auction sale #PEARL-2095 at Christie's, NY, on 18 January 2008 as item 696 pictures a miniature portrait and mourning scene c. 1805-1810 of Thomas Coit who was born in New London, CT, in 1767, the son of Thomas Coit and Mary Gardiner. He married Mary Wanton Saltonstall (b. 1767) in 1789 and they had 8 children. This portrait should be made known to the Coit family. I am scanning it in case any of the descendants might like a copy, either by email or by postal mail. Someone in the family ought to have it--it is too good to be missed by them. It may not have extensive genealogy value, but it certainly does have a whole lot of family and artistic value. My email address can be found by clicking on my underlined name above. Please respond by emailing me directly and not by posting a reply on this genforum site, which I might not see. If it were a portrait of a Pease family member, I'd certainly hope someone would do the same for me. Bill Pease Lancaster, PA Notify Administrator about this message?
