Hi,Carol--sorry I haven't followed up with you. The living get attention before the dead, although I've been known to stay up all night with genealogy. I have gotten a new e-mail account for genealogy now that is my own! The name will be different than the one you heard from initially. It may have been odd to have a Bacon replaying to a post about a family with an ancient Sephardic lineage. What an interesting story you've told. Between my husband and his cousin, we have some similar relics of the family, including pictures of the original Hartwig Cohen who came to the US and was the hazzan in Charleston. The document about the one who served in the Revolution fits right in, but is probably about the Marks side of the family, rather than the Cohen. Did you haer any stories about that? About a sea captain? I'm also interested in who Grace was. I have spoons that I think came down from Frances Cohen, your Hartwig's cousin. I wonder if they match yours? Probably not, I think mine came after Deborah moved to NY. Here's an adrres for me directly rogermendes@juno.com
