The above named man was a very remarkable Charlestonian who was trained as an artist in Europe. He served in a Confederate artillery battery, Culpepper's Battery, which was Co C, Palmetto Battalion Light Artillery. He was detailed to serve as a draftsman in the naval ordnance complex at Selma, Alabama. He was captured by the federals in their raid on Selma at war's end, but he escaped. The Confederate Veteran magazine shows him living in Waxahachie Texas as an elderly vet, and he is referred to as "Professor Cohen" (what school?). He had a brother Hyam. I need all possible info about these two men for my book.
