My family is searching for their lost COHEN, (and related names, FISCHER, ROSENTHAL, SLOUGH and HOLLORAN, FLYNN, GEIGER,KEHOE,and McANDREW) relatives who lived in the WILKES-BARRE,Luzerne Co., PA area from 1880s until at least the 1940s. My branch lost knowledge of them through a tragic fire which killed my husband's grandfather when my husband's father was only three. This, and the Depression separated our branch thereafter, and we know very little. The first generation, we know, was HARRIS (or HARRISON) COHEN, b. Oct 3 1847 in East PREUSSIA/RUSSIA (Suvalki?), d. Aug 8 1921 in W-B, PA. He married BESSIE( poss.SLOUGH or ROSENTHAL), b.Mar 31 1856, d. May 23 1910 in W-B, PA. They had four sons, ISAAC, b. 1873, d. 1906; MOSES, b. 1876, d. 1901; BARNARD (Bernard)b. 1880, d. 1898 of disease in the Spanish-American War; and LOUIS JOHN, b. c.Nov 10 1882, d. Feb 28 1932. Isaac had three sons, BERNARD, HARRY and ALBERT. BERNARD COHEN (son of Isaac) married RUTH BUTLER ABBOTT. They had three children:NANCY ABBOTT, ANN LISBETH ABBOTT and BERNARD ABBOTT COHEN. HARRY (son of Isaac) married twice, second wife was LENORE (LNU)and had at least two children, BESSIE and IRENE. LOUIS JOHN COHEN (son of Harris)married Anna Flynn c. 1920 in W-B, and had three children, MARK, JEANNE, and LOUIS JOHN COHEN JR.(our branch through Louis Jr.)Luois died in a boiler explosion in his home, when his three children were very young.He and most of the Cohens are buried in the B'Nai Brith cemetery in the Hanover section of W-B. Who are Irene and Bessie's children? What were their married names? Did Moses have descendants? We'd love to hear of any family, living or deceased, direct or remote, and to be able to fill in some branches of this this very lonesome family tree! I will gladly trade info!
