Lydia, I was aware of Charlie Cohee and haven't dealt into that information as of yet. I will try to address what I know and theorize but understand none has been researched. We have a Perry Cohea Sr. that appeared with my GGGGrandfather Amos in Middle TN in 1808. Perry Sr. we believe at this time to be a brother to our Amos. Perry Sr. was married to a Martha. Son, Perry Jr. also married a Martha who died 1821 in Maury Co, TN. shortly after Perry Jr. moved to the Jackson, MS area and married Mary Burney. This marriage resulted in large land holdings and also produced children we believe. The native Indian connections could have possibly been from this line (either through marriage or the taking of a family name by some fashion). I have read about Charlie Cohee from that area who relocated with other native Indian population to the Oklahoma area.
