The only thing I have on Benjamin Cohee Sr. was that he was born abt. 1747; died abt. 1824. Married Rachel Dill who died abt. 1803. As for ancestors I have Benjamin Cohee born abt. 1715 listed as his father! This info was given to me, so I don't know the reliability. I have heard that the Cohee name is Irish! Notes from a book called Coddington(?)-Cohee states "Hart's Irish pedigree book said that Cohee is from Coomhan, Chief in 876AD. It changed through the generations to Conmac, O'Coomhain, later anglesized to 'Keevan, Keevan, then to Coen, Cohee, Cohan and Cowan. Several people said that two of Lord Baltimore's scret aries, named Cooke and Heenan was changed by Lord Baltimore, using the first part of each name when he granted them land (Cohee). Another reported that Emigration records show James Cohee, son of Daniel was in the British Navy; moved to England and then to America. James is said to have married 4 times, had 16 sons and several girls".
Interesting tidbits, but nothing concrete. A note of interest, I also have some descendants of Benjamin Cohee Sr., if anyone is interested. My Cohee ancestors came from Delaware/Maryland then to Ohio/Indiana. I really don't have anything on the Delaware/Maryland Cohee's.
