Alexander married Margaret in Edinburgh 28th June, 1838

They had five children
Thomas born September 1843
Alexander born January 1845 (Gt.Gt.Grandfather)
John born November 1847
Margaret born November 1850
James born January 1854

All the children were born in Edimburgh, Margaret Knox born in Haddington.

Alexander was born in Caithness, according to the 1851 census, he gave his age as 40. Looking for his place of birth, and place of death

Do any of these Coghills figure in your family tree.

I am making a trip(pilgrimage?) to Caithness
later this year and would love to know where my family originated from.
