Cynthia Charlotte Cofield b, ca 1847 was my great grand-mother. She married Aaron Rice b, ca 1844 m son of Moses and Matilda Dudley Rice in Randolph County. They lived in Winston and Marion Counties, AL, and I believe are buried, along with Aaron's sister, Carolina, near Phil Campbell. Cynthia was the dau, of William H. Cofield and his wife Elizabeth LNU (last name unknown). It looks like one of Cynthia's sisters, Martha, married a brother of Aaron, Charles Rice. William H. Cofield d. 14 Jan 1894 of pneumonia at Poplar Springs, GA. He was very active in government of Randolph co. as follows: Appointed Tax Assessor Nor. 1871, County Surveyor Aug 1862 & Dec 1883, A republican was elected in 1871 (did not say to what post). He was 55 then and lived until 1884. He was County Surveyor, Justice of the Peace, and took the Census of his beat in 1880.
