James Cofield was son of Thomas Nathan Cofield born 1790 in NC, died ca 1872 Randolph County, AL, buried Liberty Church, Randolph County, AL. Thomas Nathan's wife was Nancy Hughes, born ca 1792, died ca 1843, Troup County, GA, buried harmony Cemetery in Troup County, GA. Nancy was daughter of William Hughes who died in 1844 in Sumter County, GA.
Thomas Nathan was son of Gresham Cofield/Coffield, born ca 1752 probably Nansemond County VA or in NC, died in the 1820s in Twiggs County, GA. wife's name unknown. Gresham was probably the son of William and Mary Pamelia Cofield/Coffield of Nansemond County, VA.
My great-great-grandfather Cosby Vina Cofield 1828-1894 was the older James Cofield's brother. I can share information on descendants of Thomas Nathan Cofield. I would be glad to have information on descendants of your line.
