Jeff Good to hear back from you so soon. The court document I mentioned is David Harmon Coffman Sr and his son David Jr. our gr gandsires. They moved from East Tn in the beginning of the 19th Century to Ala. I have often wondered about the exact location of the Legg cemetery? I thought that Coleman was buried in Corinth.MS(Alcorn county)? I would love to see the photos of David Harmon Sr and/or Jr. tombstones. From what I know about the David Sr. family they were ,of course Swiss Mennonites who arrived in Lancaster,PA. and then began the migration down thru VA and the Shenendoah into what was then Washington county TN amd later Greene and Jefferson county TN. David Harmon Sr, was married to Elizabeth Lovell who was the daughter of a sister of John Marshall (Of Surpeme Court fame) and they were cousins to Thos. Jefferson. The Markham and Marshall and Lovell names are found in every generation down the line. I had a uncle named Marshall and he had a first cousin named Marshall Coffman as well. My granmother was Lily A Coffman (dau. of David Francis Marion Coffman) My grandmother married my grandfather Green in Perry county TN in 1900. I have never seen any photos of any generation before David F M Coffman. His children and grandchildren called him "Daddy Coffman". As an aside.. David Harmon Coffman Sr. apparently was called "Harmon". I know that David Harmon Jr married a Rhoda Shelton who died in Ala. I have often wondered if any of my Dad's siblings ever saw their gr gr grandfather Coleman. It was unusal that he lived almost as long as my gr grandfather David F M Coffman! My Dad was the last of 9 children and he said he could not recall much conversation about Coleman but that he was so near the youngest end of that family that it was probable some of his older siblings knew and had seen him earlier. My oldest uncle was born in 1901 so he probably knew his gr grandfather as well as other family members. There was quite a bit of movement back and forth between Giles county TN and Limestone co AL. Don't want too "wax" too long. regards James Green Notify Administrator about this message?
