Hello there James, Very good to hear from you and make contact. I really appreciate your message, and I'm sorry to hear of the recent passing of your father. I am descended from Coleman through his daughter Eliza Eveline (1867-1951). She married Thomas Matthew "Matt" Downs. My grandmother was Dove Ann Downs, who was the last child of Matt and Eliza. I have several pictures of Eliza, and one of Mary Tennessee who was (I think) Coleman's youngest child. I also have pictures of some of the Coffman gravestones (Coleman, Eliza, David Harmon Coffman Jr.). If you'd like any of these just let me know. Your court document is interesting. I'm wondering if the David Sr. and David Jr. are Coleman's father and brother, or Coleman's grandfather and father? I think there were three generations of David Harmon Coffman's. The oldest died around 1835 and is supposedly buried somewhere in Limestone County, Alabama. His son David Harmon Jr. was Coleman's father. He's buried in Anderson, Alabama, and I have a picture of his gravestone. I get down to Giles County / Limestone County about twice a year to visit and do family history searching. I live in mid-Michigan. Am I right in thinking you're in western Tennessee? There are a couple of other descendants of Coleman and cousins of mine I visit when I get down there. They are interested in information about Coleman too. Also, you might want to check out the Coffman Family History group on Yahoo (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CoffmanFamilyHistory/) Lots of good stuff there. I'll look forward to hearing from you again. Jeff Notify Administrator about this message?
