Coffman m. Clarke

There is a marriage record (Rev. Stoever) of Christian
Coffman and Elizabeth "Clerck", Christian from Hanover
and Elizabeth from Bethel. These towns appear to be in
what became Lebanon County PA (original Lancaster, then
Dauphin, then Lebanon split from Dauphin).

In 1750, there was a Thomas and John Clarke on the Tax
List but no Kaufman/Kauffman/Coffman. In 1758, Thomas
Clarke was on the tax list plus John "Kofman" and
Frederick Kaufman.

Records from Mercer County KY indicate that Christian
Coffman and wife Elizabeth Clarke were there, he died
and she married William Veach. Three sons (Isaac,
Jacob and Christian) were bound out by Elizabeth Veach,
widow of Christian Coffman.

In 1796, there is a marriage record of Isaac Coffman
and Mary Calvert. There are marriage records for
Sarah Coffman and William Hungate 1800, Ann Coffman and
Nathan Stein 1808, Polly Coffman and John Hungate
1794. Presumably, these are all children of Christian
Coffman and Elizabeth Clarke. The only other record
I've found of any other Coffman in Mercer KY is where
an Isaac Coffman signed marriage bond of Elizabeth
Coffman to William Veach 1788.

No Coffmans appear on reconstructed 1790/1800 Census.

The 1810 Census shows only one Coffman (spelled Caughman) in Mercer. In 1820, there is a Mary Coffman plus a marriage record of Mary Coffman and David Young 1821.

In 1830 for Mercer Ct. KY, there is an Adam Coffman and
an Eve Coffman listed as head of family (she is show as
age 40-50 with one make under 5). I think the
Adam is a misspelling of Enoch, who appears in the
1840 and 1850 Census. Enoch Coffman m.Sarah Whoberry 1826 in Mercer and Fanny Coffman m. John Conway 1828 in Mercer Ct. In 1847, Eyres Coffman enlisted in the Mexican
American War from Mercer Ct. KY. He subsequently ends
up in Missouri and Enoch moves his family to Indiana.

The whole object of this is to establish who the
parents of Eyres Coffman were. The problem is that
in the 1840 Census, there are three Coffmans (Robert,
Joseph, Enoch) , with two listing males either 5-10
or 10-15. Eyres was born in 1801. Joseph has no
children in 1840. It is possible that the last name
of Robert is not in fact Coffman but mistranslated.

Would appreciate any information by which to establish
parents of Eyres Coffman.
