What a confusing mess ! The more I read the more confused I get. Louis Coffin's book on page 150 says that George W. Coffin son of Stephen and Martha (but we now know he was son of Elizabeth Blaisdell and Stephen Coffin) married Joanna Brown?! Is this a boo boo in the book or another George in Freeport? The one I posted about in the previous message says on the Woodlawn Cem. list that George W. Coffin b. 1835 is the son of George and Jane Coffin giving credibility to your Jane Bartol info from the Freeport Town Records. But back to the Louis Coffin book...it also lists a daughter for George and Joanna as Sarah Ann Coffin who married Daniel Lunt in Nashville, NH which I think is also an error as I can find no Nashville on my NH map (but my map is old), so I am assuming this could be Nashua, NH, on April 12, 1849. Doing a little math this would say that Sarah Ann was born around 1830 which falls in line with the birthdate of George W. Coffin b. 1835 over at Woodlawn Cem. in Freeport. So, I am just going to guess that the Freeport Town Records are probably correct and that the Louis Coffin book may have a couple of errors in that person's entry. In the cemetery list that I have there is no John Sanford Coffin or Ephraim buried there.
Oh No...the Plot thickens !! I was just going over my list of Coffin's buried at the Porters Landing Cem. on South St. in Freeport...there is another George W. Coffin buried there too ! Eeeek !
His birth and death dates are 1844 - 1911 and his wife is listed as Lois K. Soule who died Oct. 23, 1892 at age 54 yrs.
This may have just added fuel to the fire as this George's birthdate also within range of the Other George. Hopefully someone will be able to hash this all out for you.
Good Luck anyway.
