Carole,

In the book, "Nantucket County, Island and Town", published 1924, by Alexander Starbuck, it shows that Tristram Coffin came with his family and widowed mother, circa 1642, residing first at Newbury, later at Haverhill and Salisbury, until 1660, when he settled at Nantucket.

The first of his children that I have as being born in America is Deborah, born 16 Nov 1642 (died the next month).

In 1644 Tristram was licensed to keep an ordinary, sell wine and keep a ferry on the Newbury side of Carr's Island (per book noted above).
