.......Based upon the original discussion with the original author of this thread. I went back into my copies of the Coffin Family Newsletter (CFN) and re-read the refenced articles. There is no proof that Peter Coffin and Mary Boscawen were the parents of Nicholas. I have stopped my chain at Nicholas (grandfather of Tristram). I am sending you copies of that information which is the best I can find concerning the matter. I have visited Portledge some years ago and John Coffin swore there is no known link to Tristram from Portledge. However, one should not trust John as the final authority.
