Thanks, Ed

After posting, I realized that nobody had actually posted here about the bogus Nicholas - Peter & Mary connection for about 5 years, so I thought that I was raising an "alarm" a little out of season. It can't hurt, though -- As you say, there is still a Rootsweb online genealogy asserting the connection; and of course, FamilySearch is still full of wrong leads. If someone were working on their COFFIN line for the first time, and came to GenForum for clarification on the Peter & Mary issue, they would have had to read 5-year-old posts giving misleading information.

The COFFINS are on my father's mother's father's mother's mother's side, so I only occasionally edit that part of my genealogy. A few years ago, I spent untold days and weeks entering the phoney line (with all its tentacles), then having to rip it all out again. Frankly, I'm glad we don't know of any ancestors further back than Nicholas: It saves a lot of time that would have been spent trying to ascertain whether or not Lady Godiva and Zeus were really our ancestors.

Thanks again :-)
