from the Kennebec Journal, ME RICHMOND -- Gladys L. Johnson, 85, of Front Street passed away Friday, April 2, 2004, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. She was born in Brunswick on July 5, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Margaret (Horton) Coffin. Gladys was a true sports fan; she enjoyed watching sporting events on her television. She had a particular fondness for basketball. Gladys worked several years at Bath Hospital. Later, she worked for the dean at Bowdoin College. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Johnson; son Albert Nelson King; and siblings Carrol, Stanley, Arthur, Philip, Helen, Rosetta, Belle, Freida and Eleanor. Gladys is survived by a daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Charles Coy, of Richmond; granddaughters Debbie Smith and husband Kevin of Richmond, Darla Coy of Bath, Sherry Coy of Sabattus, Trina Rowles of Augusta and Mindy Robinson of Brunswick; and five great-grandchildren. Per Gladys' request, there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, Richmond. Notify Administrator about this message?
