Hi Bonner, Thanks for the follow-up, and for the corrections. Here are the 1850 and 1860 census entries for Henry and Mary in Choctaw Co., MS: 1850 Choctaw Co., Subdivision 23, Page 197, dwelling 810, Gilbert Coffey, age 47, male, farmer, $1000, born NC; Mary, age 53, female, born NC; Sophia, age 16, female, born SC; Dallas, age 13, male, born SC; Leeroy [sic], age 12, male, born SC 1860 Choctaw Co., Greesboro Twp., Page 156, dwelling 1117, family 1081, Gilbert Coffey, age 56, male, former Legislator, $4200, $18,385, born NC; Dallas P., age 26, male, lawyer, $__, $2975, born SC; Phalbie, age 18, female, house hold mistry [sic][mistress], born GA; Leroy D., age 22, male, student of law, born NC There are some census anomolies concerning the birth place of some of these folks. I laughed at the apparent census error recording Phalbie as "house hold mistry," and wondered if the enumerator mispelled "mistress" or "mystery." At 18 in a house full of men, she was likely both. :-) Notify Administrator about this message?
