I descend from the COFFEY family whose old homeplace is located on the highway from Lenoir to Blowing Rock,NC (about 8 miles outside of Lenoir)in Caldwell County. It is known as the MCCALEB COFFEY homeplace and will be the site of the Coffey-Welborn family reunion . The date is the first Sunday in OCtober and will start at noon with dinner on the grounds (everyone needs to bring food for their family++) followed by a short business meeting and then history/genealogy items will be discussed. I have the name of the woman who is resposible for setting up this "gathering" but do not want to make it public since I have not asked her permission.
I am seeking anyone who has the photo used in an earlier family history of EMILY COFFEY to please contact me so that I might send $$ to have a reprint made for my history.
The Caldwell County Historical Society in Lenoir,NC has a wonderful collection of COFFEY family histories ..most notebooks were researched and compiled by George Robbins (now deceased) who spent about 25 years + completing. I encourage anyone to go look at this valuable collection when next in that area of NC.
