I found a Vester Broomhall in the Social Security Death Index. He is probably too old for the one you're looking for, but he might be the father of Marvin.
Vester Broomhall, born 16 Apr 1908, died Oct. 1972. His last residence was Belzoni, Humphreys Co., MS (zip 39038). His SSAN was 426-14-7365, issued in MS.
You can order his death certificate and/or Social Security application, both of which may give you more definitive info.
