Benjamin Coffey (b) 8 Feb 1808 (d) 8 May 1867 (m) Nancy Hayes they had ten children that I know of of these ten children seven were in the Civil War. Richardson (Ritchinson), Calvin, Calton, Marvel, Perry, and Ausbon fought for the C.S.A.. Ransome fought for the Union side (he was already living in Kentucky before the war the rest of the family followed after the war). Of these seven brothers Calvin, Perry, and Richardson were killed in the Civil War. Calton was wounded in the leg and deserted when he heard that his twin brother Calvin had been killed. Marvel was the last family member to see Calton when he deserted. It was not until 40 years later that Calton showed up in in Oklahoma and the family members found out where he was. He had moved from living in Kentucky when he deserted to Missouri, to Arkansas, to Texas and then finally to Oklahoma over that 40 year period.
