Would like to find the Nordyke & Coffey family for Charles Thaddeus Nordyke & Nancy Narcissa (Coffey) Nordyke. The Coffeys came from GA > TX. The Nordykes came from IN. Charles & Nancy (Coffey)Nordyke lived in Cottonwood, Callahan County, TX.
"Nancy was the daughter of one of the former Confederate soldiers from GA who had brought their families to settle on the Callahan Divide after the Civil War." "Early Days of Callahan County", B.C. Chrisman. This source also states one of the early pioneers was J. F. Coffey and the Nordykes. This would have been before 1877.
Nancy Narcissa Nordyke died January 12, 1965, Callahan County, TX. Charles and Nancy (Coffey) Nordyke had two sons: Lewis Thaddeus (1905-1960), writer & author; and Clarence R. Nordyke (?-1955)Texas Ranger. Thanks for any info. Debbie
