I’m researching the Coffey family from around Wilkes & Caldwell counties of NC.
Like most people on these message boards I’m hoping to hear from someone with
information that will add another piece to the genealogy puzzle…. or just verify what I
have with letters or documents.
My ancestors are as follows:
grandparents: George Lee Coffey 1892 / WV - 1961 /OH
Elizabeth Mae Steele 1903 / KY - 1968 /DE
*Gerorge & Elizabeth Coffey lived in McDowell & Boone counties of WV…
They had 3 children: Helen Kathleen, Raymond Scott, & Charles Lee
g-grandparents: James Granville 1845 / NC – 1915 / WV
Lois Ann Dancy 1859 / NC - 1938 / WV
*James Granville & Lois Ann Coffey moved into Mercer county, WV and later settled in
McDowell county, WV. They had 9 children: Daniel Alexander, George Lee, Mary,
Henry, Willie Luther, Lizzie Jane, Charles Edward, Jesse Franklin, & Alice Mae
gg-grandparents: Marvel 1820 / NC – 1875 / NC
Nancy Pendley 1820
*Marvel & Nancy Coffey lived in Kings Creek, NC & had 6 children: James Granville,
Laura, Mary Ann, Jane, William, & Sophie
ggg-grandparents: James 1772 / VA - 1840 / NC
Deliah Ferguson 1784
*James and Deliah Coffey lived in Kings Creek, NC and had 7 children:
Thomas, James, Eli, Lovancy, Marvel, Myra, & Louisa
gggg-grandparents: Thomas 1742 / ? - 1845 / ?
Elizabeth Smith ???
*Thomas & Elizabeth Coffey had 6 children: Elizabeth, John, Thomas Jr., James,
Mary, & Smith
**After his first wife, Elizabeth, passed away Thomas remarried to Sarah (Sally) Fields.
Thomas & Sally had 9 children: Martha, William, Reuben A., Elisha, Sally, Jesse,
Larkin, McCaleb, & Lewis
