The following appeared in the March, 1992 issue of Coffey Cousins' Clearinghouse newsletter, p8:

Kenneth D. Harrison says that he and Velma Urguhart had new tombstones placed on the graves of Henry and Rebecca (Kirk) Coffey in the Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Marion County, GA. This cemetery is located on the south side of Homer Bray Rd. 355 in Marion Co. Henry Coffey (1787-1876), son of Revolutionary War veteran, Hugh Coffey, sr. (13 May 1750 - 26 April 1827)and Agnes Montgomery (15 May 1755 - 10 May 1839) of Lancaster District, SC, married Rebecca Kirk (1792-1872) daughter of Matthew and Grace (Johnson) Kirk, in Lancaster District, SC. ca. 1820. Before 1840 Henry and Rebecca and their six children moved to Muscogee Co., GA. In 1847 Henry Coffey bought land in neighboring Marion Co., GA and he and Rebecca lived there until their deaths. Kenneth also has "the rest of the story". He has very good records on all the rest of the family. What Kenneth would like to know, is to hear from descendants of Henry Coffey's brothers and sisters. He says that he will gladly share information that he has gathered on this particular branch of the Coffeys. Kenneth Harrison's address is 423 N. Mail St., Enterprise, AL 36330.

The IGI (often unreliable) says that Henry was son of Hugh Coffee and Agnes Montgomery; that he married Rebecca in 1821, and had children: Elefaire (female); Grace; Hugh, b1770 in Lancaster Co., SC; James, b1832 in Lancaster Co; Margaret J., b1827, Lancaster Co; Mary Matilda, b1830, Lancaster Co; and Nancy. (this source names _7_ children). IGI also reports that Hugh, born 1770 in Lancaster Co. was sibling of Henry.

Good luck with your search.
