This might help:

In 1860 Red River Co., there was a John S. with wife Martha. John was son of Jesse (which Jesse?), and his children were Elizabeth, b1845; William, b1851; James, b1854 and Susan, b1858.

At the same time, there was another son of Jesse's in Red River Co.: Ashby Coffee, with wife Eliza and children Robinson, b1848; America, b1854; and Margaret, b1857. Ashby was b1822 and Eliza b1828.

Then, I find a Joel with wife Polly, b1842, in that county in 1860. My note says that Joel is probably really Jesse and Polly is probably his daughter.

So, look for a Jesse with at least two sons and perhaps a daughter with the above names, and you might have a pretty good lead.

Good luck!

Jack
