Ambrose, Sr., believed to have come from Ireland, and who appears in a number of KY counties in the late 1700's and early 1800's, is generally thought to have married a woman by the name of Ailsey, maiden name unknown.

Their son, Ambrose, Jr. appears in the 1850 census of Greenup Co., KY, married Lucinda Day on 8 Nov 1812 in Floyd Co., KY.
