My family lives and lived in the central Illinois area near Springfield for probably 150 years+. First names that were commonly used in our family were, Thomas, Vernon, Murray, Paul, Rolly, Ralph, Newton, Lemuel, Sadie, Bertha, Doris, Hazel, Betty Jean. Other surnames associated with our family include Ganger, Jenkins, Beanblossom, and Tosh. Family folk lore says we came from the south, probably Kentucky. Somewhere there is a tie to the coal fields in Pennsylvania. There is more but I won't go on now. Does this help?
