Hi Mandie,

You're referring to Chesley Coffee(Coffey). For the most accurate and concise information on Chesley, you want to check out Timothy Peterman's 1981 essay on Chesley, which Jack, who runs the Coffey Cousin's Clearinghouse, has posted on line at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/6233/chesley.html

You will note in the essay that Tim has concluded that Grace Cleveland, wife of Edward Joshua Coffey, could not be the mother of Chesley due to birth date conflicts and therefore that Chesley is not the son of Edward. However in later years, Coffey family researchers have found evidence that Edward was married to a woman by the last name of Martin, prior to being married to Grace and it is believed that Chesley was the only child from this union.

For a nicely done lineage online, refer to Ldy Mustang's site on the Coffey family at:
http://web2.airmail.net/ldystang/gen/coffee.html

I am descended from Nebuzaraden Coffey and am interested in any new research on his siblings or his parents, Chesley and Jane. By the way Jane Cleveland was sister of Grace Cleveland (Chesley's stepmother). Confused yet??

Anyway, good luck and send me an email if you need more details.

Susan W.
