Was Hiram C. Coffee (H.C. Coffee) a descendant of Abner and Christina (Kelley)Coffee who lived in Bedford Co. VA.? Abner Coffee (1768-1836) was my g.g.g grandfather David Coffee's older brother. Abner Coffee was born in Prince Edward County VA and his brother David was born in Beford Co. VA. Abner Coffee married Christina Kelley in Price Edward County Virginia on July 21, 1791.
Abner Coffee's grandfather was Peter and Suasnnah (Mathews) Coffee. Peter and Susannah moved from Stafford Co. VA to Price Edward Co. VA and settled on a headright of 220 acres in the Caldwell Settlement along Vaughn's Creek.
Peter Coffee (1705-1771) arrived at Dumfries Dock in Stafford Co. VA.(now Prince William Co.) in 1737 on the passenger and cargo ship "Forward Gally" which was one of three passenger and cargo ships owned by Jonathan Forward, the other two cargo vessels were the "Forward Frigate" and the "Pretty Patsy." Jonathan Forward was a prosperous London tobacco buyer and a "Contractor for Transportation" to the Virginia Colony for the London Company. The "Forward Frigate" first landed in America at Jamestown in 1722.
