By War of 1812, are you referring to the Battle of New Orleans in 1814? Joshua's son, John was in that battle. This is the General that was personal and longtime friend of Andrew Jackson. He married Mary Donelson, a niece of Rachel Donelson Jackson.

Joshua's son, John was a general of state troops in GA during the War of 1812. Coffey Co., in that state was named for him for his service in battle with the Creek Indians. He also served in the GA state legislature and was twice elected to congress from that state.

The GA and TN state archives will be able to provide you with lots of info on their respective Generals.

Regards - Jack
