I just read a civil war pension file for a union soldier who stated that his 8th Mo Cavalry Mo Vols was put into forced march in attempt to get to "General Coffee" who at the time was making raids into Missouri. I am afraid this will not be much help to anyone but does place Coffee in Mo in September 1863. The area this soldier was in was West Central Missouri. There is a State Park named after him in Georgia, where he was a Politician also. Was John Coffee.

Warren
