I have more information on the Coen family from Clonfert, County Galway, Ireland. There were 7 brothers Francis (b.1869), Daniel (b.1875), James (b.1878), Michael (b.1880), Patrick (b.1881), Thomas (b.1883) and William (b.1886).
I know that my grandfather (Michael Coen) came to Scotland from Ireland, then went to Boston,Mass,USA arriving 19/3/1911- he then came back to Scotland. Although family legend is that he was in New York, I cannot find any trace of him there in census etc.
I also think that Daniel and Thomas went to NY on 27/3/1902 to stay with their brother Jas? At 638 East 14th Street,NY,NY. They arrived on the Oceanic ship from Queenstown, Ireland.
Going further back. The parents of the boys were Daniel Coen and Bridget (Hooban/ Huban or Hoolian) depending on which certificate you read. They married 14/3/1867 in Kiltomer, Co.Galway (the priest was P.P Edmund Coen)
Daniel’s father was called Peter (a farmer) and Bridget’s father was called John ( also a farmer).
I hope this helps some researchers out there.
