Azoreans (and Portuguese) did not use surnames, or any patronymic naming convention for that matter so there really is no first, middle, last, etc. Their names have familiar meanings so Fernandes may refer to an ancestor or even a priest that converted an ancestor to Catholicism. FYI, Coelho comes from the Sephardi Jewish name/tribe of Cohen. Notify Administrator about this message?
