Michelle, we are cousins.I would like to exchange info if you are interested.Jackie & I have the same Cody [email protected]
FYI:
John B. took his Fathers place in the Army. When the war was over he married into the Autry family, they had a child, named him John Lee.The wife died and her sister came to take care of the baby then he married the sister. They had Ben, Willie, Evia, Cleve and Howard. She died then he married into the Grey family and Lela was born.Evia married Boy Sullivan, Lela married C. Q. Ellzey
John B. studied law, taught himself and became a Judge, sold or gave his land to Willie, moved to Shivers when he became older, he was feeble and loosing his eyesight, he needed someone to take care of him, so he married Minnie Toland. Minnie was Cleve's wife's Mother. She took care of him as long as she could or was able too.He began to stay around with his Children, mostly with Cleve and Lela.He died at the age of 89 in Nov. 24th, 1935 at Lela's home in Plains, Miss., now known as Richland. He was blind four years before he died.He was buried in the Peacock Cemetery.Cleve's wife "Balma", notified the Government and they sent a tomb stone reading John B. Coday, Co. A, Stubbs B.S.A.
In the early thirty's we changed the spelling of the name back to Cody.
