Dear Dave,
Thanks for the information. While the search is wide I may have hit gold. My great-great-grandfather was Lawrence Cody born about 1810 (still searching for a date). One of his sons was a James (my great-grandfather). He stayed in Ireland. I am working on discovering Lawrence's brothers. I believe that there was a Richard and possibly a Michael. Could your James be a brother? There was a James or John that immigrated to America at one point. What I have discovered is that children in my extended Cody line are named either after their grandfather or an Uncle. There are multiple Jameses in the line.
I am first generation American and am working with my cousins in Cork on our family tree.
