Cody Genealogy Book
In early 2004, a history of a branch of the Southern Cody family will be published. Entitled: The Cody Family: from Prince Edward Co., VA to Titus Co., TX, 1730-2004, this book expands on previous Cody genealogies by using court records, probate documents and land deeds to develop a creative narration of the lives and times of the Cody family with 100 references. It begins with James Archdekin I (James I)and follows with James II and his arrival in the Colonies. James III experienced the Revolutionary War and its aftermath while his son Jacob Cody (1765-1858) takes his family from NC to GA to TN and finally Marion Co, AL. In the last generations, emphasis is placed on Edmund Baker Cody and two of his children who settled in Titus Co, TX - Nancy Elizabeth (1837-1902)and Thomas Franklin Cody (1849-1932).
