Additional information on Timothy Code/Cude:
1768 - Signs Regulator Advertisement No. 9, April 1768 (see _The Colonial Records of North Carolina_, Vol VII, pp 737; name is Timothy Code)

1788 - Obtains 200 Acres from the State of North Carolina. This property is on Brush Creek near Grays Chapel, NC (see Deed Records, Randolph County, NC, Book 3, pp 341; name is Timothy Cood)

1790 - U.S. Census Records, Hillsborough District, Randolph County, NC. Timothy Code and family and his eldest son, William Code and family.

1800 - U.S. Census Records, Randolph County, NC Vol 4, pp 306. Name spelled Timothy Cude. Note also that William and John went to Tennessee.

Timothy may have been born in 1748 (one source indicates he may have been born as early as 1735, but the general feeling is the 1748 date is correct) in St. Austell, England (as Timothy Coode) However, there are no baptismal records showing him or his brother from 1744 to 1750. St. Austell is somehow accociated with Cornwall County. He had a brother, William Coode, who in 1778 was in the 2nd Maryland Regiment.

Timothy died in 1813 in Randolph County, NC. He married a Liddy (Lydia) Horner who was born about 1750 in York Co. PA. They had 10 children, which included four boys: John Cude (born 1775 or 1774 in Raldolph County, NC) Tennessee Cudes are from him; William Cude (born 1770) the oldest, produced Texas Cudes; Timothy Cude (born 1781), produced the North Carolina Cudes; and fourth, James (born 1788) who apparently never married.

Timothy fought in the Battle of Alamance in central North Carolina in 1771. In 1801 he recieved two 50-acre grants in North Carolina. The spelling of his name there is Cood. He could not write, but signed his name with a large "T".

Any help appreciated.
