Dominique Coco the first came from Nice Italy because at that time Nice belonged to Italy.
On the marriage certificate Dominique Coco signed his name Dominique Baldony "Dit Coco".His father is listed as Dominique Baldony. His mother is listed as Jeanne Bouguione. He married Elizabeth Rabalais, daughter of Joseph Rabalais and Anne Barbe Boftz.I have a copy of the marriage certificate.
When Dominique Coco first came to the Louisiana Territory he set up a trading post in the area that is today Alexandria, La.The Indians could not pronounce Baldony so they called his L'Homme de Coco, which is translated Man of the Coconuts.
