Hello. I'm new at this. I just learned that my "grandfather" Dominque Coco is really Dominque Baldonide. I'd like the Coco story if you can help me. My family papers, assembled in 1952, say that Dominque Coco the First married Gabriel Rabalais and had a son Dominque II with her. Many websites say that Dominque II's mother was Elizabeth Rabalais, not Gabriel Rabalais. This stumps me. Also, my papers say that my heritage comes from Domalise, who was Dominque II and Zoe Juneau's daughter. ******** I live in McHenry County Illinois. Last year I attended The Trail of History event which re-enacts New France colonial history in the Illinois area. I met a participant --a Chicago/Newberry Library scholar named Charles Balesi--who told me that Coco was a nickname. This threw me, but now according to what I've learned today-- I see he was right!
Does your history of Coco say anything about the family in Nice (France) Italy?--Thank you, Virginia Marie Robinson.
