Cockshott & Galloway UK marriage Sept 14, 1840
Hello,
Would anyone have connection to the following marriage information of Church Kirk, September 14, 1840 joining Lawrence Cockshutt/Cockshott, the son of John Cockshutt/Cockshott and Mary Galloway, daughter of David Galloway? Both of the families were listed as living on Warren Lane, which if I have researched this correctly would be in Oswaldtwistle.
Lawrence was listed as being of full age to marry and a Collier.
His father, John was listed as being a Mason.
Mary Galloway was listed as being a minor at the time of the marriage, and being a Winder.
David Galloway her father was listed as being a Collier.
This marriage was witnessed by James Bradley and Alice Chambers.
I suspect this is my family and I'm showing a daughter resulting from this marriage. Her name was Elizabeth Cockshutt/Cockshott, born August 23, 1942 in Tyldesley Bongs, Lancashire, England.
Elizabeth marries Thomas John Longdon, born July 16, 1843 in Manchester, Lancashire, England, or so is presumed. They were briefly in Kewanee, Henry CO IL, before settling in Higbee, Randolph CO MO.
Lawrence and Mary Galloway Cockshott were also in Higbee, Randolph CO MO and are presumed buried there, although I have found no proof. A brief obit has been located.
Does anyone have the 1841 census or the 1851 census for Oswaldtwistle, or has anyone located this Galloway or Cockshott family in their research?Thank you.
Other areas that might be of significance would be Blackburn, and Manchester. To respond to this or for a list of other surname that might be affiliated, please e-mail at: [email protected]
