The name COCKERHAM is frequently pronounced as COCKRUM (or Cochran and about twenty other variations). I am seeking information on William COCKERHAM born ca 1777 in Halifax VA. He married Charity JENNINGS in Surry Co NC and they later moved to what is now Jackson Co NC (Haywood Co, then Macon Co, then Jackson as new counties were formed). Any information on this couple will be most appreciated.
