Hi!

Thanks for the Civil War story of Marion & Izard Co., AR; then Baxter Co.

The Cockrum arrived in the area in the 1840's from Monore Co., TN; which was part of the Cherokee Nation prior to the 1836 removal.

Also, killed in the area during the 1860's were members of the John Watts family who were also from Monore Co., TN. The Watts were descendants of the Cherokee half-breed Chief John Watts (b. 175? NC -d. ca. 1805)

In Nov. 1871 the orphaned Nancy Watts married George Washington Gloyd b. 1844 MD. John A. Cockrum was a witness listed on their marriage record of Marion Co., AR.

It was tuff on those Cherokee's in 1860 Civil War Arkansas.
