Cockrum Family Genealogy Forum

Colleen, I am researching the TRAVIS familes of Jefferson and nearby counties in TN. starting about 1820 or so. I have several COCKRUM names. I have an UNK. COCKRUM who married a Jane or Jennie TRAVIS abt. 1890-1894. Jane or Jennie was the daughter of Wm. Henry TARVIS who married Liddia POTTER. They may have lived in Grainger, Jefferson, Hamblen Co. and possibly lived in Knoxville for awhile. There was also a G.W. (or C.W.) Cockrum, who was a J.P. and signed on the marriage lisc. of my gr-grandparents Joseph N. TRAVIS & Ellen A.BUTLER, when they married on Dec. 24, 1895. The BUTLER family was from Grainger Co., TN. Joe & Ellen soon moved to Fannin Co., TX. and then to Wapanucka, OK. Then I have these COCKRUM'S who are married into my PIERCE line. (PIERCE would be Joe's, mother's maiden name.) I do not have any dates or locations. Do any of the names on this page belong to you? Would like to share info. Many Thanks, Debbie Descendants of Hence Cockrum Generation No. 1 1. HENCE1 COCKRUM. He married MARGARET PIERCE, daughter of ROBERT PIERCE and MARGARET HODGE(S). Notes for MARGARET PIERCE: Called " Mag " by family and friends. Children of HENCE COCKRUM and MARGARET PIERCE are: i. FLOYD2 COCKRUM. ii. GRETA COCKRUM, m. UNK. SUNDERLAND. iii. BOB COCKRUM. iv. LUTHER COCKRUM.
