Hi Bernie I first heard about this crime in Mary Ann
Messicks Baxter County Arkansas book.Ellen Cockrum was
the postmaster for Lone Rock Arkansas the story was
Ellen and her Daughter Mae were found frozen in the
woods 1917.There was a trial a man named Wilburn was
found guilty of one murder and not the other,Ellen her
daughter Mae and Husband Mord Cockrum are buried at the
Burnt School House Cemetery I had a gg uncle named
Morgan V Cockrum in Baxter Co at first I thought he was
Ellens husband.I have also wonderd if my Great Grand
father Alfred Henry Smith might have been the judge
at the trial any relation to your Smiths ?My father was
Grover Cockrum born Custer Ar I'm not sure if we are
related to Ellen Cockrum. Regards Dianne Richardson
